Navigating Private Equity and Value Creation: The role of a Research and Delivery Lead at InX

We are thrilled to welcome Luiza Bagatini to InX as our new Research & Delivery Lead for Private Equity and Value Creation. With a rich background in psychology, recruitment, and an extensive international career, Luiza brings a wealth of experience and a passion for transforming businesses. In this interview with Brand Manager, Becca Boulton, she shares insights into her role, her interests, and the current trends in the private equity and executive search markets.

Welcome to InX, Luiza! Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your background?

I’m Brazilian, have been in the UK for eight years now. I have also lived and worked in the US before – this says a bit about my love for traveling and for experiencing other cultures. I’m a Psychologist by background but I’ve always worked in recruitment – which led me to do an MBA and a PM certification.

I've been involved in recruitment since my university days, working as a headhunter specialising in permanent searches. Since moving to the UK, I’ve focused on interim strategy and consulting roles across the UK, APAC, and parts of the Americas. I joined InX to work alongside Joe to develop our Private Equity and Value Creation practice, specifically focusing on interim transformation and strategy roles.

On a personal note, I’m married to an English guy and we have a clever, gorgeous sassy little girl called Olivia – with whom I cruise up and down London finding fun theatres, exhibitions and experiences to explore.

You’re joining us as the ‘Research & Delivery Lead – Private Equity and Value Creation’. For those unfamiliar with the role, can you elaborate on what your responsibilities will be and how you will work with the team?

In my role, I’ll manage our network of consultants, overseeing the attraction, selection, and maintenance of relationships with former management and strategy consultants who are placed in projects or interim roles. I will be working within the Private Equity and Value Creation team alongside Joe Siantonas, focusing on sourcing interim transformation leaders for private equity portfolio companies. My role involves close collaboration with the PE practice at InX as well as the transformation teams at Definia and Investigo, as our projects may extend into team-building or fixed contracts / SOW.

What draws you to this role and the market it serves?

I am fascinated about operational strategy roles – bringing strategy to life, executing complex and challenging plans, rebuilding / restructuring businesses, leaving an impactful legacy through changes in whole businesses. I am constantly learning from consultants who I speak with every day, and I genuinely like hearing their experiences and their take on these projects.

What trends are you seeing in the private equity and executive search markets right now?

The market is beginning to recover, with deals slowly becoming more frequent. After the elections, a stronger bias for action with funds’ willingness to deploy capital after record accumulated dry powder, investing in CTO (Chief Transformation Officer) to get businesses ready to sell.

What advice would you offer to leaders seeking roles in your field?

Maintain and leverage your professional network, especially with former contacts. The market has not fully recovered yet, and private equity firms will be increasingly selective about project requirements. Ensure your LinkedIn profile and CV’s are current, and keep your recruitment partners informed about your latest projects, interests, and availability.
